Body: Just throw him in with the rest of the team. He will be able to consistently progress at about the same rate during the season and will run the same times year after year, barring setbacks and assuming he is done maturing physically (I'm guessing he is, since a freshman lacrosse player on varsity has gotta be decently built). So maybe if he races four times per season and is pretty talented he might run 18:00-17:30-17:00-16:30 or whatever. He might get better year to year if he isn't through puberty yet, but once he stops growing taller, his running times will stop getting faster automatically. Don't worry too much about development, etc. Just let him work hard and maybe he'll realize he's a better runner than lacrosse player. Who knows...
