you dont think one of the very best 5000 meter runners in the world, who abdi has run 16 mile runs with and says he (lagat) would make an excellent marathoner couldnt keep up with tiki galena (no offense she ran great and has elevated herself to among the very best women runners) in a marathon?

I'm not sure Lagat has it in him to make the 800m time any more. His PB is not all that fast and he has lost a lot of speed on that end. I have no idea what he could run in a steeple. So I, for one, and very doubtful that he could just go out and run qualifiers in 5 events without specific training devoted to 800 speed, marathon endurance, and steeple technique. He would have to make 2 out of the 3. The 15/5/10 I would give to him as a given. To make the others he would have had to take advantage of the longer window in the marathon and 10k and do those early, then move down and work on speed or technique. He would also have to stay healthy through it all.
