Lots of things on eBay are so cheap that it's not worth wasting much energy on getting the cheapest possible price. If I want something that generally sells in the $25 range, I'd rather pay $28 for it on the first try than spend the time to track down a bunch of auctions of the same/similar thing, find out when they close, and try to snipe it for $18. The time and hassle is not worth $10 to me.

Of course with this in mind I'm usually better off at non-auction sites with reputable sellers and I don't use eBay very often.
