I have no problem believing that any decent, dedicated distance-oriented runner can get down to, say, 16:xx

Why do I say that? I'm 180-185 and struggle to get 19:30, and did around 18:40 IIRC after losing, I think, around 7 lbs.

When at the gym, I imagined how hard it would be for me to run with a 45-lb plate strapped to me--that's a lot of weight!

So you 135-140 lb guys out there, what do you think you could run with an additional 45 lbs strapped onto you? 19:30, right?

Ultimately, I have no problem believing that I could do 16:xx or 15:xx if I were only 135-140 lbs, and no problem believing that others could do it as well.
