You are reporting the following post to the moderators for review and possible removal from the forum Poster: Chuckster Subject: Any barefoot runners, DC area? Need participants for study at GMU Body: George Mason University is doing a barefoot vs. shod running study, if anyone would like to participate shoot me an email. We need about 20 shod runners (runner who wear normal conventional running shoes) and 20 barefoot/minimalist shoe runners. Obviously the first group is easy to find so I'm primarily looking for the second group, but anyone can participate as I still need more people for each group right now. The study is using EMG to track muscle activity during running in order to track the changes that occur when someone has been running barefoot for awhile. Also we will be using infrared VICON cameras to track movement. All you will have to do is run on a treadmill for 10 mins, but the whole thing (set-up, etc) will take approximately 60-90 minutes. If you think you MIGHT be able to participate in March when we get rolling, send me an email with the following: Name Gender Age Footwear (if you were regular shoes or some sort of minimalist shoe, or barefoot...if you do part of your training barefoot and part in shoes then put that down) Years running Typical pace (easy day pace is fine) Miles per week Injuries (any injuries in the last year that have caused you to take time off) Medical (any medical/health problems) Height Weight Days you run a week If needed I will get back to you near the end of this month or the beginning of March.
