Body: Out of curiosity, can you give some examples of your typical home meals? And examples of what you'd like to eat? Healthy diet is extremely important in my opinion, as is eating in moderation. My kid was a very successful high school runner and was meticulous with diet and drink. Lots of brown rice, beans, tofu, dark green veggies, cold water. Most of his teammates ate crap - candy, cheeseburgers, energy drinks, and most were overweight. And most were lousy runners. 2 suggestions - if you can get a part time job, or get parents to gift them to you - a good pressure cooker for beans, and a small Zojirushi rice cooker. After that, buying bulk brown rice and bulk dry beans is cheap, as are many leafy dark green veggies. Offer to cook a few meals, research health benefits, and tell them my kids story.
