Subject: The Coaching Situation Thread

This thread is for the coaches on the board to discuss certain scenarios and describe what they would do and why. The purpose is to give coaches ideas on how to coach their athletes more effectively and help develop the sport. I'll give the first situation to discuss:

You have to coach both a boys team and a girls team for cross. The boys team has a chance to finish top 3 at the state meet while the girls team isn't projected to be in the top 8, although is talented enough to crack the top 5. The boys require a good bit of your time to monitor their workouts. How do you approach this situation? Do you focus fully on the boys and hope the girls come around or do you try to integrate both into the same system and hope you can focus on both equally, or something else?
