Body: My understanding of Daniels is that runner's should use their current level of fitness (v-dot) to determine training paces. Some of these paces are much faster than current fitness, but workouts like the k repeats are around current fitness. I agree with the last poster that workouts down at both ends are best--tempos and some some intervals based on current fitness, other intervals and shorter repeats at goal pace. The goal is to stay healthy of course. Good luck and keep us updated with what you decide and how it works out. I'm training a group of junior college runners and am debating the same question.
