Subject: Ultramarathon training

Im a highschooler very interested in ultrarunning and planning on doing a 50 mile when i turn 18. At first i wanted to do sub 16 in a 5k but i cant even run under 1:10 in a 400 but i can do 29 min in a 5 mile and 17 high in a 5k. In training i really dont like to do speed work and intervals and tempo runs but i do them anyway. What i really want to do is just run and explore all around the city. just pure running. In training for an ultra is it just pure running?
