There will be probably 5 kenyans under an hour who won't even make the 2016 Olympics in any event.[/quote] The fact that other people can run a quick half marathon doesn't mean that the top marathon or 10k contenders might not still opt for the half instead. Rather than adding a half marathon, I'd rather just see the Olympics adopt an automatic standard, such as 2:06 or so, such that if you can break the time, you're automatically invited, regardless of how many other people your country is sending.
