To run with him you have to find him among thousands at the start. Someone suggested that he be asked to wear a GPS. He would probably refuse that - on the grounds that a failure to finish sub-3 would be automatically taken as evidence of previous cheating, when in reality he might run sub-3 due to a bad day or injury etc.
If the RDs really want to catch course cutters, isn't the solution just to put more mats on the course? Put out more mats and require that a runner's chip register at ALL mats. This is how the NYCM catches 50 or so course cutters each year.
