People often get those early splits wrong because the exchange point is hard to get right since the event still has a 3m/lane stagger. Whatever the case is Tony McQuay ran a MONSTER 2nd leg. and i wouldnt be surprised if the real split is actually sub 44.[/quote] the first split needs to be taken in the middle of the exchange zone. on the first pass during a 4x4 this is marked on almost all tracks by the 800m start line, usually colored green. all the other splits should be taken when the baton crosses the start/finish line.
