Subject: RE: My goal of sub 4:00 1500-I will not stop until I reach my goal.
Body:

I am not sure how old some of you are, but my friend went to Master's Indoor Nationals five yrs ago and raced in the 35-39 category. He had seen results a yr earlier and noticed that the 800 was won in 1:59 or something.

So he became motivated to train for the next yr (as a 36-yr-old) and try to break 2:00. He has run since age 10 (34:59 10k in middle school, 1:54/4:20 in HS, limited college running) and can pick it up and stop with ease.

He also wanted to try to break 4:30 and I told him if he was going to travel and register for the Nationals he should race both -- 800 and 1600.

He ended up running a bunch of 2:00-2:01's and 4:10.xx for 1500 and some 4:30's miles.

He doubled at Nationals and won the mile (if it is a mile) easily in 4:35 or so and then he got second in 1:59 to some huge stud that has run 1:53-55 after age 30 ... he just hadn't been there the yr before.

So, my point is that if you are OVER-30 and can run sub-2:05/sub-4:40 you should check out the Masters Nationals. They are probably very soon.
