hey man, go for it! As far as training for the 1500 goes i sugest reserching Steve Cram's training. (Dont do exactly as he did! That is suicide! Adapt it to your limitations.)The key is learning how to run fast every day with out straining, and knowing when you need a day off. I ran a 4:03 mile in college and i was going 4:00, but i steped in a pot whole and broke my anckle. It might work for you though.
