I'm sure anyone of normal intelligence sees right through that one. Anyway, I spoke with the officer again today and he said that at that moment 2 cops were headed to the residence of the kids to make contact and that he didn't have any information for me yet, but he would call me tonight or on Sunday (ush) when he was on duty again. I was worried I was being blown off, but he did say "Dont worry, we'll get them" ... so I think they're taking the matter seriously. I'll keep you updated as I know more.
