I agree. Obama is foolish for speaking out in support of gay marriage now given that he had previously spoken out against it. He is trying to do anything to deflect attention from the economy.
Also, gay marriage was a wedge issue in 2004 and helped Bush win re-election against Kerry. At the time most voters were against gay marriage. It is hard to believe that enough voters have changed their mind now to somehow help Obama's candidacy.
