It's different kinds of cardio. I remember seeing a video on here of Josh Rohatinsky and one of his friends boxing for fun and after a minute, they were dying for air.
A few years ago, I trained at an MMA gym and at the time, I was probably worth a 4:45 mile. My first 4-6 weeks, I was dying and gasping for air at every single practice. After three months, my cardio was leagues better and turned into one of my strengths, despite stopping running.
I wanted to see how my running cardio was affected and I ran an all-out mile in 5:15. Floyd could run that fast potentially, if he quit boxing, but he can't do that now.
