|Subject: ||RE: Walter Dix 9.85, Rodgers 9.97!|
9.85 (+2.4) is a 9.96 corrected.
Blake's 9.90 (+1.6) corrects to about a 9.98, which is about the same.
Dix did exactly what I guessed he would--ran between 9.95 and 10.00
Dix's result is just about as good as Blake's, when you consider that Dix's was run under basically great conditions, and Blake's was run in the rain, you get a better appreciation of Blake's run.
Hard to tell exactly from this vid of the race:
, but it looks like Dix has been working on emulating Powell's start. He's got it, almost exactly, and good for him. He still needs a bit of work on the very first step, on rising out of the blocks, but it looks really good...if he can get those first 1 or 2 steps correct, he will be even with everybody at 25m, which would be a triumph, and would mean that he would go an honest low 9.8x!
As it now stands, he is only 1m behind at 25m, rather than 2m behind as he has historically seemed to be.
VERRRRRRYYYY nice! IMHO low 9.8x puts him right in the mix, as it is a low 9.7x with good wind.
Again hard to tell from the vid, but it looked like he had the typical early-season rust and tightness in the latter part of the race, but the middle part of the race looked great, and the first part looked much improved. If he gets his finish in order, as he always does by the end of the season, we will see a 9.7x from Dix this season...I fully expect that we will.
Awesome, especially for the relay--the only question now will be where he goes on the relay, which I guess will depend on who else will be on the team.
And as for Rodgers, that idiot--whatever. He got waxed, Dix beat him by .12
As is typical of Rodgers, his run was between 10.05 and 10.10, which is his territory. By the end of the year he will get down to 10.00-10.05, and possibly just under 10.00.
If--IF--Rodgers can get down to an honest 9.9-low or 9.8-high, then we will have a serious 4x100 race on our hands, assuming that Gay will be in decent shape.
