I too miss the old Ventolin. He must go kick his dog after every post nowadays.
I don't agree that fluff pieces marginalize the sport though. If we look at other sports there is some ratio of fluff to hard hitting journalism pieces. Let's just say, for arguments sake, that the ratio is 100 to 1. Here we have a fine example of a marginal fluff piece that met the needs of hardcore fans by offering insight into one of America's greatest coach/runner and is building anticipation for the upcoming Olympics.
What I believe marginalizes the sport is that we want hard hitting journalism everytime out and that is just not fair to the sport. Especially when it is competing with many others who don't play by that rule.
So, yes, you are right that there is no mention of drugs but I'll wait for the next 99 fluff pieces before I start demanding more indepth articles.
To combat message board spam (by non runners). We are making people answer a brief question before they can post on a thread that is over 20 days old.
