|Subject: ||RE: Good places to live in East Bay, near running trails?|
Oakland. Doesn't need to be in the hills. I could live almost anywhere in the city (I live in East Oakland), but would love to live in Rockridge or the Lake Merritt area. Either way, there's great running nearby. Lake Merritt (5k around) and Temescal (a mile or so) are great places to run. You can run up into the hills into Joaquin Miller or Redwood Parks. Berkeley is nearby (fire trail). The paved trails along the water in Oakland, Alameda, Berkeley, and Emeryville are close by. Lake Chabot is about 15 minutes away by car. Tilden Park is about 20 minutes away (since you have to go through the streets Berkeley to get there). All in all, the best place to live and run. Even runs in SF are just 15 minutes away (great long run down Embarcadero, under the Golden Gate, to Sea Cliff, to Ocean Beach, and back through the city through GG Park). I've lived here for ten years and never get bored with my daily runs. Plus, you'll be close to a great restaurant, bar, and cultural scene.
