The time is impressive unless he is a 800m runner considering he a pure 800m runner and not a 800m/1500m runner. The 800m is slightly more speed then endurance; therefore, there are two different type 800m runners. One who trains slightly more like a 400m runner and those that come slightly from the 1500m type training. Charles Jock speed and front running is a evidence that early in his career he is more of a speed runner who is working on his endurance.
The fact that he won by over a second may prove that he was within himself and could have run faster had needed to then 3:53.
