I don't follow middle school times closely enough to really know what an elite time for that age is but is it really good enough to create a thread about it? Rarely seen such a talent in your 25 years of following the sport? Not trying to be a dick, I really am curious.
Back in the dark ages when I was in school there was a kid in our league who ran 4:40 in 8th grade. He went on to become a 2x state XC champ, 2x 3200m state champ, I think 1x 1600m state champ. He went on to run on a college scholarship and be a good, productive college runner. So, I'd say it is a really, really good time at that age indicative of some talent. It is probably not a nationally prominenet time and I'm sure there have been quite a few kids who ran that time and never went on to do much.
