I'm a junior boy looking at some D1 programs to possibly join. Is it true that Appalachian State is losing it's outdoor track? Not the program but the actual track?

App State pokemon club is much bigger than the track team and actually competitive on the national level. The former App State track, will become Ketchum field, one of the nation's foremost pokemon stadiums. There have been some truly memorable duels, great moments in history by the App State pokemon club. Raichu Regan shocked the nation when she took down Cal State Channel Island's fabled water dragon squad single handily to the time Meowth Megan fended off 5 time national champion University of Alaska Fairbanks elite 4 1/2 (one guy is a little person).
They are building a new track facility. So the track around the football field will be gone. But App State will have a track.
The "old" track is out of commission as we speak. New construction at the football stadium is underway. Plans for the new track have not been finalized. The Athletic Department said that the new track will be at the new athletic facility being built on the University owned land on Highway 105 (the old Watauga High School property). It's a bitter sweet moment for App State Track Alumni. Getting to train and race on that track was special. Few tracks in America had that view. While the track may be gone, the history of the program will live on in the hands of Coach Curcio and Coach McLean. Look for final facility plans to be announced this spring or early summer.
