Would lifting increase my 800 time, considering that I have never lifted? I was considering going with starting strength. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Why would you want to increase your times?
If you put on a lot of weight, your times will probably get slower.
Did you say increase when you meant improve?

Depends a lot on your approach to lifting, reps/sets/where you're at in you're overall training. Form is crucial and not over taxing yourself but just enough stimulus will surely be a good thing for the long haul.
I like to think of strength work as making your body more resilient to the cumulative stress that running presents. Physiology wise, it's great for stimulating important hormones too.
Weight lifting is extremely important for the 800. Wimpy guys seem to get stuck around 1:50, the guys that are running a ways under 1:50 all do weight lifting 2-3 times per week. Lift heavy and go controlled down and explode through the lift (you want to increase your power output), lots of cleans, squats, dead-lifts, and some arms

Lift yes. Starting Strength no. It’s not specific enough to running.
