For two years after college and being a midpack D3 guy (25:30 8k, 31:50 10k, etc) I've been working a job where I have to audit supplier facilities. Due to this I have to travel a lot and I only get to run 3-4 days a week. I still put in 9-12 miles per run but I only get to do them every other day and it's been a long time since I've been up to doing meaningful workouts (the weird running frequency means I'm pretty much only comfortable doing fartleks now).
I just got a new job where I should be able to run every day and was thinking of joining a track club. Does anyone have experience coming back from an extended reduced mileage period? The last time I really thought about training I was at my peak fitness so I have no idea how to start this comeback period. Whenever I try to come up with workouts, mileage plans, etc. I catch myself planning them as if I was already running 70-100 miles a week and used to doing tempos/intervals. I'd really appreciate the guidance since I feel like I'm in a bit of a no-man's land right now.
