This happens everywhere. Even in the NFL. The sideline bunny will always ask that question. My favorite is Susan Waldon of the NY Yankees. she actually asked a player last year, on the air; "is winning better than losing?"
The "what were you thinking when.." questions are used by unprepared media people who have little or no creative thinking.
