Are you sure those Nike athletes? If they were sponsored by someone else, maybe they were just trying to disguise the 4%, like Negesa did in Dubai (he dyed them red).

This is Brittany Charboneau. She wore all Nike gear but doesn't seem to be a Nike athlete.

Top picture is Carrie Dimoff. She runs for Bowerman Track Club and cut out the shoes from the picture she posted on Instagram.
Not much to go in those pics other than maybe asymmetrical lacing. You can notice it in the first pic.
the shortlist:
lower the stack height, keep 10 mm of drop
remove plate
full rubber outsole
more durability
plush semi attached tongue
doubled eyelets on top for runner's lacelock
mild stability
basically halfway between Fastwitch 9 and the 4%
ofc this will never happen from Nike because Nike is Nike
maybe I'll try suggesting it to Saucony.
somehow missed this wide shot with the full lineup, fascinating

Ding ding ding.
It wasn't an IAAF race. There can't be a rule 143 violation for wearing prototypes. The local rules don't disallow it either.
Scroll to 28 seconds in the clip above.
You’ve no idea what you’re talking about OP.
Trust me, no idea at all...
I saw Nike Employees (not athletes) wearing the same thing last summer at a running event in Portland.

B team uses them at every local event.
They are entered again this weekend in USATF Championship.
Does Rule 143 apply in this race?
There should be a protest entered prior to the start of the race to give the cheaters a chance to compete on a level basis.

They sometimes still pull out old white vaporfly prototype that probably don't conform to new rules. The new black ones do look terrible. Like clunky bus boy shoes.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Matt Choi was drinking beer halfway through the Boston Marathon
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
