Quigley wanted this one, no doubt. Is this her first US title?
It is.

Damn Colleen looked so smooth that last 400! What a great race. Shelby definitely missing that final gear in this race
And Cory McGee closed as fast as Shelby on the final lap.

Houlihan let her have it
From the TV shots, Houlihan did not look like a happy camper after the race.
Quigley has always seemed pretty competitive with her teammates when she gets healthy, after seeing them succeed while she's been battling injuries. Got to wonder what the team dynamics are like/will be like... I'm sure Quigley is dying to beat Frerichs in a steeple, too.
Matthew Payamps (St. Anthony’s, NY) with a 2:23.46 to place 16th in the 1k. US #1 for high schoolers this year and new New York state record, besting Miles Irish’s 2:24.1 from 1983. Kid is going to do big things as a Hoya next year
I did NOT see that one coming. Maybe Houlihan didn't have the same gear at the end of the race after training to run the 10k at USA XC.
Major props to Quigley. Honestly, I didn't envision any scenario in which Houlihan lost that race. Quigley made a hard move with two to go, took it to Houlihan and is a deserving national champion (her first at any distance). Closed in 60.09. Great run.
Cat fight in the Bowerman barn tonight!
Shelby was not happy :(
And Quigs with a “F yeah!” When she crossed the line.
It seems Bowerman bought up Kate Grace just to keep her from being relevant

Oof.. scalding take here.
She ran a poor tactical race, so that may have played a bigger role than a lack of fitness, but it is indeed strange how much less formidable she's been since joining BTC.
Can there be more than 200 people in the stands???????
This really is awful

Kate Grace had a great outdoor season and ran well at Millrose this year
Looks like Hunter winning is looking good
I don't think they're getting Hunter's time.
Drew hunter is going to win 2 mile from slow heat. These guys ent too slow first mile
Idiots! Drew Hunter is watching himself win a national championship from the bleachers eating popcorn.

Cory ran better than I expected. Osika has beaten her recently, and I expected Osika to take 3rd in this race. But Cory held her off for the final podium spot.
This is a disgrace. If you are Jerry schumacher or Danny Mackey - you have utterly failed your athletes by not instructing them to work together and get the time

Seriously - do they even realize that they are competing against the slow heat? What a weird race.

I guess it could also have to do with her moving up to the 1500 full time. Sure, she's been competitive, but she was an Olympic finalist in 2016. She hasn't been on that level since. Again, a lot of that tonight appeared to simply have to do with her getting stuck at the back of a huge field. I'm sure she'll bounce back for outdoors.
Did Craig Masback seriously just suggest Drew Hunter CHOSE to run the slow heat? Oh god and now Johnson actually asked him if it was his strategy. Clueless.

What a bunch of spineless wusses. Didn't even effing TRY to match Hunter's time.
