Pick up a reprint copy of Middle Distance Running by legend Percy Wells Cerutty. He trained Herb Elliot. He had his failures also(Landy got better after leaving Cerutty). I have an original 1958 Hardcover. But you can get a reprint paperback on Amazon for about $25.
Mechanically don't buy any books that proclaim you need to run upright and land on your forefoot. ( so basically any books on running mechanics after Born to Run came out a few years ago.) Usually they are by some Cross Fit guy that thought he set a WR in running his 19:45 at a local hobby run.
Pick up a copy of the Perfect Mile by Bascomb. In particular read the parts(in the first 60 pages) about how Landy changed his running style from forefoot plant that Cerutty advocated to a slight heel first landing(I said slight, NOT hard stiff leg landing way out in front of your COG) while adding some cushioning to his then racing shoes in the heel. All this advocated by Landy's discussions with Zatopek in the 1952 Olympics in Helinski.
To back that last paragraph get a slow motion app on your phone. Slow down a video of Tim Cheruiyot running 3;28. You will see he is a heel lander!. Also look on IG at Jakob running in slow motion with his bros. He is a flat foot lander with lots of forward lean! The reason I say all this is you are unlikely to be 112-120 lbs with a foot and tendons as strong as a normal 170lb man. Thus you can not run like Haile or Kenisia and will only get injured if you try.
