I am reliably informed the runner was in fact Jerrell Mock, fresh off his 62:14 half in Houston. So how did he fight off a mountain lion with a runner's strength?
Apparently, when the lion first lunged at him Jerrell was lucky enough to get his pointy elbow into the lion's rib cage, breaking a rib and stunning the animal. Then he used his love of wrestling to quickly gain advantage over the mountain lion. In fact, Jerrell used a chokeslam to finish the fight, a move he learned from his favorite wrestler, Kane.

Aw, c'mon people, why do you automatically believe our media?
Did you ever consider the possibility that this is fake news? Huh? HUH?
I mean, maybe the innocent mountain lion was out on a tempo run, and a human attacked it.
Why, I was once on a stroll in the Colorado wilderness...with Morgan...yeah, Morgan Fairchild...when she attacked and wounded a mountain lion. Yeah, that's the ticket...a cougar killed a cougar!

TMZ and the Enquirer are currently camped outside my door trying to get an interview.
Joking. It wasn't me.
Does anyone know who the runner was? If they do, please contact us as we want to interview him.

I hope you're thinking black page for this guy.
This whole tragedy must be Mark Wetmore's fault. If he was more involved in the Colorado running community, these trails would be patrolled much better.
This was in Fort Collins. Wetmore's from Boulder. People from Boulder are anathema to Fort Collins. It's like College Station/Austin. Columbus/Ann Arbor. Boston/New York. Boulder is not the "Colorado Running Community." Boulder might as well be in California, as far as most Coloradans are concerned. Same goes for Aspen.

Sorry, but I beat you to that old standby quip on Page 2 of the thread.

What I'm talking about. The Colorado guy says he got on top of the cougar. This means they got the cougar's back like an mma fight, safely away from the pointy ends. Then you choke 'em out of break their neck.
And yet Americans believe that Lions roam the streets of South Africa...or kangaroos in Australia for that matter

Rexing wouldn't have had a scratch on him, let alone go to the hospital...
This.
Scary, but true. A local ranger told me when I first moved to cougar country I’d likely be OK because I’m almost 6’. I carry grizzly mace anyway but yeah, there would likely be no time to react.
Lol at the idea of running with human bait. Also, the eyes on the back of your hat idea is intriguing. Never heard that one before.

Baboons do, in South Africa. And they'd be better off it were lions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cph0D7Vdjp4Still not clear how the lion got suffocated. I assume the runner just swung his leg, the lion bit his foot and choked on the two-inch Hoka sole.
This old girl was found near a school in Kenya. A danger to kids. Look at her reaction when some guy tries to nudge her in the right direction.
One of these should work

Holy cr@p. But WhyTF are these rangers releasing a 200-lb cat into the wild armed with nothing but a stick and a rolled down window? All these people around and not a tranquilizer gun in sight? They fed their pal to the cat and filmed it. Jeezus.
Did he pause his Garmin?
