7:49.47 at UW today. Looked like his last 800 was around 1:56, just blew away a solid field. Smooth as silk, reminds me of Clayton Murphy. He will be a contender at US nationals if he competes there (not sure whether he has dual German citizenship).

He does have dual citizenship and has stated he plans to use it. Source: Citius podcast with him
bump for this sleeper.
Germany had 2 sub 7:50 guys indoor last year (7:46.1 and 7:49.0), so he is right there.
The German indoor mile record is 3:53.7. Bartelsmeyer's 3:55.3 is close.
He now needs to run on a regular size track. How does German selection process work?

I think he needs a German Club to compete at the German indoor championships, I believe. I don't know if he is even in contact with German Federal coaches or other officials. In any case despite appearing to be easily in the range of the top 3 Germans (and the best, Ringer, will not run indoor this season, I believe, but do a half marathon in Japan) he needs to start at the championships, especially if he has neven started in Germany before. They are in three weeks, so if he does not yet have a German club, it is probably too late for the indoor season. He could try for the outdoor season, though.
Last season, Natalie Tanner with dual citizenship ran the 10000 at the EC for Germany, although hardly anybody had heard of her before because she had one of the best three qualifying times. But she did have a German club (Frankfurt) and she also had to run a decent 5000m at the German championships.
I can't find the interview now, but after the 3:55 he said he was pointing towards the German nationals.
He is with the same German club as Natalie, I believe. Amos will 100% be in Leipzig in anticipation of earning a spot to Glasgow.
Bartelsmeyer is a stud. It'll be interesting to see how he does at Millrose. I think he has a chance at getting the German indoor record.

7:37.51? I doubt that. He is however in amazing shape. If he goes sub 7:45 that will be amazing.
Probably the mile record mentioned above. But nobody is really interested in the mile in Germany, even less in the mile indoors.
If the bureaucracy works out (something I would never bet on in Germany) Bartelsmeyer could certainly represent Germany at the indoor EC. Ringer is not running indoor, Bleistein (the other 7:49 guy last year) was not so convincing outdoors 2018 and there is not many others who could be expected to run sub 7:55
First saw him run as a sophomore in high school and thought then that he had the talent to eventually become a professional. Didn't have as good of a college career as I expected but seems to be in the zone now.

I meant he has a good chance of setting a record in the mile, which is what he's running at Millrose. I agree that 7:37 is likely out of reach for now, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ran close to that during the outdoor season.

Sorry, I was assuming that he would run the 3000m (not the mile) at Millrose. Where are the entries?
Entries have yet to be announced afaik. Amos said he'd be doing the mile in a Citius Mag podcast a few weeks ago.
Traitor. No wonder no one has given him a contract.
Anybody know what his training is like? He mentioned 75 mpw on the Citius mag podcast.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?

How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
