Cain's 9:38 two mile indoors is still better.
Cain was a senior for that.

I guess. What she already was is still pretty cool though. WC finalist. Total legend. More name recognition than many pros with lengthier resumes. She burned bright.
Amen! Carpe diem.
4:03 at first exchange. Now Travish Mahoney and Henry Wynne running leg 2.
4 X 1 mile. Hoka sat on Brooks for 1st leg, Brooks now sitting on Hoka for 2nd mile. Just looking at live splits, don't have order of runners.

And they're off!!
407 first leg
Brooks back to the lead, Hoka sitting right on them with 1 1/2 miles
to go
Last leg, about dead even, both 12:06 at the handoff.
Brooks with a slight lead with 400 to go.
Alexa Effraimson 9:00 is still the record holder--oversize or not. She also has the fastest 1500 m PR 4:03 of any hs runner.
Whoa! Brooks with a 16:03! Hoka died that last 1/4. Ran a strong 1200 but rigged bad. Tight race for 30 laps.
Ben Flanagan of Reebok, wasn't he the guy who won the 10,000m at NCAA last year? well, I know it's only 26th January and all but his 7:48.80 is only the 4th fastest indoor 3000m in the world this year.
just sayin'
NOP American guys would crush the 4xmile record.
Murphy, Engels, Jenkins, and Brazier (or Rupp)

Never really improved significantly either, unfortunately. Enjoy the success while you're in it.

Wouldn’t someone realize that if the record you are chasing was chased by someone who chased records and then blew up maybe it isn’t a worthwhile record to be chasing?
Not really. Correlation does not equal causation, running fast early doesn’t mean you will burn out. It’s not like holding herself back and running like a 9:20 will somehow indefinitely preserve her career. That being said, yeah there’s always the chance but you can’t really tell until it happens. Look at Mary Cain vs. Ajee Wilson

old AM Best in-or-out
4 x Mile+ 16:08.54 Athletics West Eugene, Oregon 5/04/84
(Dan Aldridge 4:03.4, Doug Padilla 4:04.7, Tom Smith 4:01.9, Chuck Aragon 3:58.6)
Tuochy did not break 9:00

In my opinion not doing the training and racing it has taken her to get here would indefinitely preserve her career.

Completely different events and athletes. Hard to compare a sprint/speed based 800 runner to distance runners like Cain & Tuohy.

Not true. Cain's DOB May 1996 and she ran that time on Feb 2, 2013 as a sixteen year old HS junior.
Tuohy has a March DOB, so Cain was a couple of months younger.

Good sleuthing. I just eyeballed the years and got 17. Cain opened with 9:02 that season so Tuohy is right in there.

You just completely made this up?

Alright we'll agree to disagree. I think it's hard to tell a burnout is happening until it's already in front of you and Tuohy obviously wants the most out of her high school career that she can get. Maybe it'll end up having her burn out, but that's her choice and hers alone, plus I'm not too familiar with her training so personally I think it's hard to try and justify predictions about that.
On your second point, why's that so hard to compare? Legitimate question, I don't think there's much difference between the two since "burning out" is just such a broad term, but if you have specifics you're referencing then I wanna hear where you're coming from.
