I know soda is bad for me but it's so damn good. I drink like 2-3 cans worth of mtn dew every day but run 80 miles per week and am 18 years old. Do you think it has any effect?

12 x 3 = 36 x 170 = 510 calories
80 miles a week works out to about 11.43 miles per day
You are burning about a thousand calories a day running

Steve Jones ran 2:07 on Diet Coke. What you eat and drink is irrelevant.
So general health and running fitness aren't connected?
I drink the diet type soda so the only thing that is going to kill me is all the additives and carcinogens they pack in those delicious bottles of refreshment.
may not need to but the question might be can you stop drinking it ?
I was a caffeine addict for over 20 years. I stopped the caffeine and it was the most difficult things I have ever done. It ain't easy. I have been off the stuff for over 5 years.
The 1st 3 days were the most difficult and after one week I was confident I could get through each day without it.
Try to stop for one week to see if it can be done.
Hopefully it is easier for you than it was for me.
Bro if you regularly drink soda in 2019, what are you doing? An occasional sprite or ginger ale is ok, but you really should avoid soda.

And why would one want to quit it (caffeine)?
You might have problems with your teeth.
Patrick Lange took a 2 liter of cocacola and drank it then dumped it over his head as he set the world record for the ironman triathlon championship.

You are young. So you get away with bad nutrition for a very long time. But eventually it will catch up with you.
50+ years old running for 30+ years, vegetarian for half of my life. Just had a doctors check up. He told me that he probably doesn't see another healthy person like me for another month.
Learn to cook basic daily meals and try to eat as healthy as possible. That does not mean that you can't drink soda at all. But I would be careful with it.
Mtn dew is chemical trash
First Mtn. Dew, next it will be golf. Take control. Enough said.
I love Diet Coke. I don’t think it will effect u just make sure ur still drinking water. Ur young but as u get older it could cause weight gain from the additional calories.

Google Mountain Dew teeth.
Also, yes that much added sugar will affect your running. And why are you running 80mpw at 18 years old?
You can always have soda, but try going off it for a while.
Gatorade is good.
Try 1/2 Gatorade, 1/2 water
80 mile weeks you'll probably go for the full Gatorade
Soda is good but carbonated, lots of chemicals, and not great for teeth
Quenton Cassidy drank it so no, you don’t.
Lowering sugar intake has helped a lot of athletes.

So you're saying it was ok in the 1980s when no one knew soda was bad for you? Drank a lot of soda growing up. Yeah, nowadays, drink none.

2-3 cans is a long way from a gallon.
