I like it. I don't understand the Tracksmith hate, their products aren't that expensive, they look nice, and they're involved in the community.
Good guys and definitely doing a lot for the sport locally. But don't say their stuff isn't expensive that's just fake news

How is she blue collar? She runs for living. How about following some 2:16 US marathoner(or female equivalent) who is not sponsored, who has to work full time, grinding out the 120+ mile weeks? Now that would be fun to watch.
Very true. The blue collar equivalent in running would be someone with a full time job and/or raising kids on their own (without full time nanny help). None of the runners on the shoe company payroll count as blue collar, no offense to them. It's great that they have that support, but they are definitely the running elite. Free stuff, lots of free travel, free elite coaching and attention and pampering, full 8+ hours of sleep on a regular basis, etc.
Real (and talented) blue collar runners are rarer than the elite runners, by far. They usually make brief appearances here and there, then disappear into anonymity again. Heroes to the silent masses.
Heather McKirdy just made a spicy instagram story about how she pitched this program concept to Tracksmith and then they ghosted her and essentially stole her idea, presenting it as their own.
She didn’t name the company, but a simple Google search made it obvious.
I thought runners were supposed to drink chocolate milk as their super recovery Beveridge.
She WHO?

IMO, the people ponying up the goods should get all the credit. .
And maybe they had the idea before it was "freely" pitched. It's not that original an idea. The hard part is actually doing it. Was the person above who made the spicy story going to pay for this?
More sponsorship from non traditional running companies is good for the sport.
Thanks Ben and Des
Thanks Track smith
I like how Ben and Des are creating a future for themselves. Similar to Nick Symmonds and Run Gum. When the shoe dollars disappear they will have future income. This is super smart.
I am in.

Right, and didn't Skechers do basically something similar for 2016?

Tracksmith announced the Hare A.C. thing a while back (which seems similar to the Oiselle Volee concept and the old Brooks PR program). Adding $250 retail worth of Tracksmith's own gear almost seems like sleeves off a vest.
Also, I don't think Tracksmith is pushing Des Linden as a blue collar runner (although they are pushing her un-blue collar coffee). The photos depict Tracksmith models/runners who qualified at CIM. Samantha Roecker (3rd at CIM in 2:30) does work full time.
I am not a coffee drinker so I might be a bit of a hypocrite to be advertising coffee but I love the idea of racing with Linden across my chest while Des has to wear Brooks.
Not super stoked on Tracksmith but I like the fact that Linden and True are a part of things.
It's not des linden and ben true. Tracksmith is working with a coffee company called "linden and true"

Sorry to burst your bubble mate
I'm still going to hate on Tracksmith's apparel, but what they are doing for the qualifiers is a genuinely cool thing to do.
A few pairs of clothes and coffee isnt "doing a ton to support the sport," it is more like "really cheap advertising."
I don't like tracksmith. To me their apparel is low quality and ill fitting. I can't deny that they are doing good things within the sport though. Sponsoring some potential qualifiers is a good move for them and will bring a lot of good publicity. No brainer. To me its a wonder why more companies don't sponsor athletes when running is such a big sport.
