Recently I saw Nick Symmonds' goal to break 11 and it got me thinking: what if I trained specifically for it, could I do it myself? I'm an 800m runner (1:51) and as a matter of fact, I've run an 100-race last year: 11.88. So, say I trained specifically for the 100, could I break 11? Of course, this question can be asked for any 800m runner who can run about 12 seconds, can he improve 1 second in the 100 with specific training?
