At 35 he just ran a 2:25 800m on a trail in flats! That equates to at least low 1:50s on a track!

I watched the video and I'm pretty skeptical. At the beginning of the video (when he says he starts his warm up) it says 1/16/2019 (today's date) and it looks like the afternoon but by the time he starts the workout it looks like its sunset (which hasn't happened yet). His socks also look different between the 200s and the 800 which makes me think he might have done them on separate days or something.

Definitely happened yesterday or earlier. For one it was already edited and uploaded by 8:00 am. For another he looks more clean shaven at the beginning of the video
He if he ran 10 of them it doesn't equal 1:50, or even 2:00
Good trolling effort, OP
Symmonds himself says that when he was in his best shape, he could run 1:50 on that track, so assuming that is reasonable 1:50->1:44: 2:25-> 2:18-2:19
Ran it this past weekend when it was sunny in eugene.
what's wrong with running it a few days before and uploading it on 'workout wednesday'.
credit to nick for continuing to put it out there that he is well off his prime but enjoying seeing where he is at and setting benchmarks and goals for improvement
Who?
The most surprising thing to me is that a guy who has been around track for 20 years claims to know NOTHING about 100m training. He talks about needing to see a coach on Friday before he can do anything. I feel like I know the basic principles of training for most distances. He must have just submitted entirely to his coaches' plans (doing prescribed workouts without thought) in the past and never tried to understand training.

He wrote most of his own training for his entire pro career.
If that's true then I'm even more baffled.
Maybe he just wants to talk to some coach on his YouTube...

Yeah I agree, lots of credit to him for this undertaking.
Nothing is wrong with it running it one day and uploading it a different day but Idk why he wouldn't say that he did.
That’s not really true. I think that was only true when he was under Mackey because Mackey understandably didn’t want to have nick do stuff drastic differently than he did the last decade. And even then he was reusing stuff from coach Row and Gags.

He said 1:50-1:55.
1:55 to 1:43 is 12 seconds.
So 7-12 seconds.
2:18-2:13

Yes but he said his later years with Rowland he was basically writing his own training because he already understood their training principles. Hence he was able to design his own training for most of his pro career.
Cool. Sounds like at 49 I could Ramzi right past him.
HE'S BACK, BABY!
serious question:
he is one of our most successful mid-D runners of recent vintage
what the hell is he doing now and why do I care?
I dont want to watch phelps do 1-armed competition sidestroke and post his splits, although I follow competitive swimming, for instance
