She ran a 4:39.15 mile over the weekend.
I know she's been very successful and loves to race, but she just ran NXN in December. Shouldn't she take a few weeks off and get a base?
Poor coaching in my opinion.

Not saying I agree or disagree, but how do you define a few weeks? NXN was Dec. 1st. She could have easily taken off a few weeks, then raced on Jan. 9th.
When is she supposed to run indoor track meets? August 9? That wouldn't make any sense.

If she can take a few weeks off and still be in 4:39 shape in early January what does that indicate about her potential for the season?

we're talking sub 4:20 territory. the girl is an absolute STUD
According to other threads she needs to run X number of meets to be eligible for indoor state championships and her team wants her to run on their competitive 4x8 team. Getting in a base doesn't preclude her from running a couple races well below her potential level.

Thank goodness your opinion doesn't matter.
My guess is, to get securing her Millrose Games spot out of the way in case they decide to that, so she can focus on her pro-race debut in two weeks.
She ran to win the race. Hello. She ran to win the race. You don't race just to run.
Their focus seems to have been to get her back to running faster pace following the 6 months of summer and X country season (and a 2 week rest thereafter). Look at what she has run. A 1000, a "jogged" 3000, a mile focusing on 35 second laps (and yes gets her into Millrose should she desire) and now an 800 in a 4x800. They dropped the DMR in VA, and she may back out of Millrose after the 3000 against the pros. They seem to keep in mind the team aspect and she can help some of her teammates win relays. I bet they run a DMR at New Balance Nationals, since they seem to have reasonable 800 and 1200 legs already established. Not sure what team could compete with them and her potentially low 4:30's anchor, but maybe there is one out there. I am pretty sure their 4x800 would be beaten. as they are 9 seconds off the lead time at this point.
Because she wants to peak early in her career, burn out before college and never be heard from again.
How do you know she isn't just doing base right now? You don't.
Base is a myth.
Tuohy should run as hard as possible, all the time.
Because in her interview she said she is doing hard speed with the sprinters/mid disntance group - we can take from that she is doing workouts. She seems to pride her self in really hard workouts - stayed in many interviews-
They run this thing called indoor track in New York. It takes place in the winter. I think that about covers it.
Because their wasn't a race January 10th.

Maybe she wants to run in the Millrose Games.
Because it's indoor track season? I have no idea why you think it's weird or inappropriate for her to be running races at this point.

are you a paid troll (to stimulate responses and clicks), or you do you just enjoy it, or are you a know-it-all who judges situations when you lack all of the inside information?
Why would racing stop her from 'getting a base"?
