I just went skiing at Jack Frost (Poconos) on Friday with my kids. I'm 46, and it was my first time skiing in about 10 years. At first I was pretty rusty, but I found my old form after an hour or so (it is sorta like riding a bike). Anyhow, yesterday (Sat) and today (Sun) the muscles around my hips and my thighs are super sore. I obviously must have been using muscles in a way much different from running to be so sore. I didn't start running regularly (~30 mpw) until about 5 years ago, so this is the first time I've mixed the two activities together.
Anyone out there use skiing as a form of cross-training? Or don't the two mix very well?
