I am doing the Pfitz 12 week half marathon plan (31-47 miles/week) and teaching a few spin classes every week. I did the base plan up to 30 miles/week in Pfitz's book and had to skip at most the shortest/easiest run/week (sometimes the shortest run was 6 miles) as my legs were so tired.
I am finding the running to be a bit much- my legs are always sore/tired (I have been running consistently for the last year- after many years on/off). How would you recommend changing Pfitz's plan? Right now in week 2 of the program it is 4 runs/week for 34 miles.
Run 1: 7 miles followed by speedwork (6 x12 uphill, 6x100 strides)
Run 2: Endurance 8 miles
Run 3: Lactate threshold 8 miles with 30 min LT (broken into two segments)
Run 4: Endurance 11 miles.
I teach spin Mon, Wed, Saturday.
Please help provide how you would schedule out the week including the spin classes. I appreciate your constructive advice. I am hoping to do the marathon plan 18/55 this summer if I can get my mileage up.
