I’ve been to many message boards through the years (basketball, video games, guitar, law schools, even drugs when I was into them), but I’ve never come across one that is as hostile, aggressive, and cynical as this one.
Does it have to do with the subject? It seems unlikely. The basketball board I go to is a lot more civil and respectful than this one, even though passions can run high with any sports fan.
What made me think of this? It was a thread earlier today where someone outside of the US asked why everyone was so hostile towards Centrowitz switching training groups. He was saying that Centro is the best miler we have by far, and yet every move he makes is met with such intense criticism on here.
So anyone have any thoughts on why the LRC boards are the way they are? Is it the lack of mods? Is it the tone of the rest of the website? The nature of the fans?
It’s getting to be a bit much, and there’s so few interesting threads here that I might just start visiting the main page and skipping the boards, but it’s always fun to visit the boards when there is a big event going just for the live coverage of fans (I don’t use Twitter).
