Hi Let's runners,
As I am starting preparations for the Rotterdam marathon I am desperately searching for the right shoe.
I am a big fan of the Asics DS-Trainer and ran Rotterdam last year them (DS-Trainer 23). Although they held up nicely for about 3/4 of the marathon I noticed the (little amount of) cushioning was completely gone. I finished in 2:56 (all my trainers said I was capable of 2:48 because of my 10k and half marathon times) totally fit but because the pain in my upper legs I just could not go faster for the last quarter of the race. Half a year later I ran the Kustmarathon which is a marathon along the coast with a lot of beach, dunes, hills just a minute slower (2:57) than Rotterdam which is a fast marathon. I also ran this on the DS-Trainer but I got no upper leg pain because of the softer ground (sand, unpaved roads).
So for this year's Rotterdam marathon I am looking for a shoe that's also lightweight but with a little more cushioning to keep my legs fit for the whole distance. In my search I stumbled upon lots of good review of the Adidas Boston 7.
Does anyone have experience with both shoes? And what size do I need? My DS-Trainer is UK 8.
Thanks in advance!
