most overated flaming shitt pile i've seen in awhile...literally make no sense....and not in a good way.
I gave it a C- at first, but now adjusting downward because it makes me madder the more i think about it.
if I watched it cold with no hype, I'd say it was a C and assume it was a low budget indie with some first time directors.
But Sandra Bollock's Tefflon face kept reminding me over and over that this was a big budget flick
Icarus - about doping in Russia
The Last King- in Norwegian with swords and skiing
Amazes me how so many of you have time to waste watching stupid garbage on TV. No wonder this ‘running’ site is filled with slow pokes.
Get out, be active, travel. Quit watching your pitiful lives away.

Okay, grandpa.

yeah traveling is better than watching reality tv, but I suspect you are an extrovert who for some reason values going out and high fiving with the bros watching a sports game to more valuable than watching a movie ay home.
Yeah , Hollywood is dominated by brainless trash these days, but there is a lot of interesting work out there if someone is willing to take the time to ask around for suggestions.
I'd rank watching a good thought provoking movie as more valuable that being active or meaningless travel to a place which is pretty similar to ever other place you've been. And, to be honest, most people aren't weighing 'watching Netflix' vs 'flying to Buenos Ares' on an average night. For most people it's choosing between watching a movie or doing some repetitive social activity they've done a thousand times. Or exercising....for what purpose?.....To place 21st instead of 48th in the turkey trot?

My wife and I are watching 'Occupied,' which is really good. You have to be okay with subtitles and the worst intro theme music ever, though. In all seriousness, I definitely recommend it.
I like this show too, but I disagree about the intro music, I liked it a lot, I ended up downloading some of that band's music.
A good show I just finished (only one season so far) is called diablero. It is sort of supernatural thriller meets comedy. Really appreciated the random sense of humor in the show.
What's the problem, buddy?

Occupied is great. Pretty suspenseful. The major premise is Russia is silently taking over the Norwegian Government so what can weak little Norway do?
There's a few other decent Scandinavian shows on Netflix too. I also liked Borderliner, a dark Norwegian Police show.
Longmire is also good. Crime/detective show that takes place in Wyoming (although mostly filmed in New Mexico)
Best movies I've seen on Netflix recently are:
Balad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
Apocalypto (2006)
Alive (1993)
Nope and not a grandpa.
56 and without even knowing you two above, I can beat you at any distance greater than 1 mile.
Yes I travel the world usually taking 4-5 overseas trips annually. Some for races, some for fun, some for charitable work. All on my dime because I’ve applied myself instead of being a couch potato watching hours and hours of TV shows.
I’m guessing you guys are young salaried types living from paycheck to paycheck and think it’s cool to ‘talk to your bros’ about Ozark or whatever the new lame hit show is.
To each his own. Don’t forget to pay your rent check on time and try to break 25 minutes for 5k.

I'm 54 (nearly), I travel the world (without knowing you, I'm sure my world travel beats your world travel), taking more than a dozen trips each year (last year I was in Madeira (Portugal), Canary Islands (Spain), Canada, US, Italy, Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, UK, France, Norway, Netherlands; this year we have confirmed plans for Canada, US, France/Spain, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and I will likely also visit several other European countries - I live in Europe - plus Australia; previous years we have also visited Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, most wester European countries, Chile, Peru, various Caribbean countries; … you get the picture, I'm pretty sure I win if we make this a travel-dick measuring contest), all on my dime because I have also applied myself (and educated myself - there's a very low probability you've got more education than me). You can probably beat me at any distance over the mile today (as I am laid up with injury), but I would confidently stake my low to mid-40s race times against yours).
I liked Ozark, and a lot of other Netflix (and non-Netflix) shows. I (and my spouse) happen to enjoy watching TV and movies. We each have our own hobbies and interest. No need to judge others by comparison, unless you like being a d!ck...

I'm in my 30's don't rent, paid off mortgage in full and have spent a third of my adult life overseas. In my free time I write novels. 25 mins is about right for my 5k because I don't see exercising everyday as a useful use of my time. Maybe I should for health reasons, but could careless what I run for a 5k after I graduated college. Watching a movie that an artist spent years of their life bringing their vision to fruition, is interesting to me. Beating Bob from Accounting in the 5k is not. To each his own.
I’m 56 and ran sub 38 twice this past fall and a 1:22:13 half.
I’ve traveled internationally 87 times and while your countries might out total mine of 48, don’t act like your shïtty ‘low 40’ time is impressive because it’s not.
I also speak three languages and am very pleased that I’m not the prick you come off as being.
PRs of 30:54 and 1:06:54 and 2:19:22 so talk all you want but in reality, you’re just a slow jogger that likes the travel.
You’re probably a big fan of Jamin too!!!!
(Okay...I apologize. That’s uncalled for. Below the belt.)
Peace out.

(1) Maybe you wouldn't beat me then. Lame foot and all. Not by much anyway.
(2) I can't count the number of international trips I've made. More than 87 anyway.
(2b) What do you mean "sh!tty low 40 time?" I was referring to times I ran in my low 40s. Judging by your claimed current times and PBs, I'll guess we would have been close in our low 40s.
(3) I speak two. Sure I'm acting like a prick right now. So are you. Internet anonymity brings that out in people. Even normally good people.
(4) You got me there. My PBs don't touch yours, and I am a slow jogger. As are you frankly.
"Peace out" is one of the more childish passive aggressive ways to step out of an internet flaming session. I suspect you are not really 56...

The Last Kingdom has it all. I usually go for slow and brainy, but I binge watched the whole thing with my husband in one glorious weekend.
This. My 15 year old son and I watched The Last Kingdom together over Xmas break. Now he's hooked on the history behind the show. Interestingly, he's part Dane and part English so his own allegiances would switch around during the show.
Another historical fiction title we liked was Frontier with Jason Momoa (of GoT and Aquaman fame).
I watched the first couple season,s and started watching the newest one but it's awful. The acting, the writing, everything about that show is very subpar. Well, the story is cool, as it's an interesting era and context ... but it's a ve y mediocre show imo.
To the OP there's already a lengthy thread on Netflix and HBO recommendations. I'd start there.

Ozark

exactly the two I came here to post.
I will add Bloodline in addition to these two. Big emphasis on Ozark though
Super Hero/Action/Sci Fi: Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Star Wars, LOTR, Dark Knight, Borne
Thriller: Bird Box, The Departed
Indy: Blue is the Warmest Color
Animated: Coco
Political News: Patriot Act
Series: Dear White People, Series of Unfortunate Events, Sherlock, West Wing, Parks & Rec, The Office
Stand Up: Hasan Minaj Homecoming, Hannah Gadsby Nanette, John Mulaney Kid Gorgeous, Trevor Noah Afraid of The Dark, Ali Wong Hard Knock Wife
Long list. Specific shout outs to Black Panther, all things Hasan Minaj (Patriot Act + stand up), Series of Unfortunate Events for reliving a childhood series in a cool way, and Hannah Gadsby's Nanette.
"Dark" and "Mindhunters" are good, but take a little while to start.
"Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" are always good if you haven't watched them already.
"Her" and "The Autopsy of Jane Doe" would be pretty good date movies
