Aside from the fact that your just a straightforward reactionary racist pig you might ask all the white people to stop stealing everyone's lands and resources.
You do know it was the white race that was invented don't you?

Because the wealthy people like wejo won't use it. $100M/10K people using it would make for $10K per user. But obviously not everyone pays taxes, so likely would be $300-$400 per payer to provide the coverage.
Well, this thread really brought out the crazies. Nice job Rojo :)

So it's to be assumed you are one of the sane ones?
“The fact that millions of people share the same vices does not make these vices virtues, the fact that they share so many errors does not make the errors to be truths, and the fact that millions of people share the same form of mental pathology does not make these people sane.”

That's ridiculous. I haven't spent a fraction of that on health care my entire life.
In fact I don't recall the last time I paid anything, if ever, nor even went to see some idiot doctor.
Certainly not in the last 35 years.
Interesting thank you. I think this is what needs to be figured out first and foremost. The fact that you need a job to have health insurance. It makes no sense at all.

I believe employer-provided health care in the U.S. developed during WWII when companies were not allowed to raise wages (a wage & price freeze was in effect) and so started to compete for employees by offering health insurance, which was not taxed as income for the employees.
Again, the costs are on a sliding scale, so your millionaire without health insurance (what percentage of millionaires don't have health insurance? probably very few, since you are charged much more if you are uninsured) would either be completely ineligible because of exceeding the scale or just be charged full price.
Most of this is probably underwritten by savings from the current costs to NYC of treating the uninsured at ERs. NYC's hospital system already handles approximately 450,000 uninsured people per year, and there are many hospitals outside the system that are probably reimbursed in part by NYC for the care of the uninsured. Costs of treating the uninsured at ER's has been estimated at an average of $900 per person per year (in one older study) and also at 7% of hospital profits.
Many uninsured are also young people in good health who go to the hospital only in true emergencies.
As someone from a country with free, universal health care I find it staggering that anyone thinks there is a problem with this, yes it costs money that could be spent on war but sometimes a country has to cut back on having wars for the greater good.
$166 = free? lol cucked american. $0 = free.
Doctors and nurses will be put on a low fixed income and have to work more hours?
But surely they wont leave NYC.
And this is what LR mods allow. What is wrong with you brojos? Seriously, grow up and realize that moderating blatant racism isn't the same as PC policing. What is so hard to understand? You don't have the maturity to run a website/company.
Sounds like you may have been over-insured. If you never go to the doctor I recommend a Health Savings Account. HSAs were started exactly 15 years ago. I pretty much use mine as a tax free investment account and pay any medical expenses out of pocket. This gives me a huge incentive to take care of myself and price hunt (when possible).
Yes, very accurate and an often overlooked issue with the healthcare issues in this country. I work in hospital finance, and get tired of hearing about the high costs of healthcare when you see people with the common cold sitting in the ED for treatment.
Preventative care needs to be more accessible and people need to be made aware of it. I'd rather eat the cost of someone going to a PCP and getting an annual check up then showing up with some type of cardiac issue in a few years and not have a dime or any type of insurance to pay for it.
Yeah, genuine healthcare systems are cheaper than chaos, which is what we have now.
there is no way on earth rojo actually has an economics degree for any institution. my guess is that his smarter more handsome brother wejo took his tests for him.
I can't stay whether or not the $100m for 600,000 is feasible but the more people that pay into healthcare system the cheaper it becomes for everyone. Therefore the "$5,000" pppy figure you compared this to isn't relevant. This is like economics 101.5 or economics 201. It's the first lesson taught when covering failures in the free market.

The weird thing about people living in areas where health care or health insurance is brutally expensive is that they don't even try to stay as healthy as possible.
Maybe you could work to reform agricultural policies so that healthy food is widespread around the country and affordable for all. Blaming individuals for systemic and institutional malfeasance and corruption is the height of arrogance.
You might also try connecting a few dots between agricultural policy and the For-Profit Illth Care System in America. That takes critical thinking skills instead of knee-jerk reactionary slogans.
Healthy food is widespread, folks just don't like to prepare it or eat it. It makes their cigarettes taste bad too.

Our free health care also costs a little bitt too.
Perhaps insurance is a scam?
How many of you actually use $5000 of healthcare a year? I've not been to the doctors in 3 years.

That's super smart...
Agree, providing free primary care would actually save a lot of money, although certainly there would still be emergencies and many people wouldn't take care of themselves even if they had a PCP. However, PCPs are in short supply
because their compensation and job satisfaction is low.
Ironically, another major cause of rising healthcare costs is the explosion of healthcare 'administrators' who basically provide no value to patients and who are often paid more than physicians. If you have a centralized healthcare system, a lot of these positions will be eliminated, saving a ton of money and headaches for physicians and patients.
As many other people have already said, all taxpayers and anyone who has health insurance ultimately eats the cost of healthcare for the uninsured and for Medicare and Medicaid patients. We might as well make it cheaper for ourselves.
