Last year we had this cool thread for those that were trying to break the 2h30 barrier in the Marathon.
Some of us did, most did not, but all enjoyed great discussions and wisdom-sharing.
Now here we go again!
I am in the group that did not achieve the 2h29 goal, but I was close. I ran 2h30:41 in Amsterdam (I was on pace until close to 40k... so close!) and will do another attempt in Boston.
It will be my second marathon in the US and I hope to meet some of you there and perhaps even get a group together to try and run 2h28-29 pace?
That would be great!
I start my programme next Monday, January 14th. From there it will be 13 weeks until Boston.
Last year I managed to run 2h30 averaging 60 mpw over 15 weeks; hopefully this time I will be able to increase that to 70 or 80.
My main trouble is to keep high volume with my professional life, as I travel very often to China and have to deal with jet lag and difficulties to run while there.
I haven't fully developed my programme yet but will do over the next few days and post here.
Chances are I will run a HM as part of the preparation, most probably the Stramilano in March... last year I have run that one and it is a fast and well organised race (I finished in 1h12 low).
Are you in for the challenge?
Where will you be targeting the sub 2h30?
share your workouts, thoughts and letsrun!
