Who was the MVP for the Eagles yesterday then?
The goal posts?
Foles is a *winner*... but, the MVP for the Eagles was the Bears head coach for calling a throw to the end zone on that last third down. Run the ball, pick up even one yard, and the kick is inside the uprights. Parker should’ve made the kick anyway, but get it as close as possible.
Live TV missed it... but the kick was tipped at the line.

Nvm... Bears were outta timeouts tho could’ve thrown out route to sideline. The actual MVP was the Philly D lineman who barely tipped the kick and changed its flight path...
Yep, and they pounded the kicker for hours until they realized he'd made a great play.
And he'd only been on the team since late October. I used to laugh about football, but the attrition level is so high in this sport. That they can play a season or more is amazing. Its one thing to run fast - which I did - another to be blindsided and then get up and do it again 20 times.
Combine 40 yard dash: Wentz, 4.7+, Foles, 5.0+
Height: Wentz, 6'5", Foles, 6'6"
Stronger throwing arm, Wentz.
I do not know if Foles sees the field better than does Wentz or since Foles is officially the backup QB, Foles is willing to throw to second or third receiver. Wentz is more apt to throw to primary receiver. Does Foles' slight height advantage allow Foles to see the field slightly better than does Wentz? Wentz was awful versus the Saints during regular season, so Foles is the better QB now.
Why is everyone surprised?
Nick Foles has better numbers AS AN EAGLE across the board than Wentz. Slightly better winning percentage, slightly better completion percentage, better TD-INT ratio, slightly better QBR. His career numbers are all slightly worse due to his awful year in St. Louis.
Looking at Foles against the Bears you have to admit that he did exactly what he needed to do -- release the ball quickly and take hits. He got the ball out of his hands within 2 seconds and made viable passes that turned into receptions. He made the most of a really bad situation against the best defense in the NFL.
Now look at Lamar Jackson who couldn't complete a pass until the Chargers started playing prevent defense and even then he had to scramble for ten seconds against a 3 or 4 man rush just to identify an open passer after their routes were already over.
If you can't check down on 3 options in 3 seconds and make a decision, then please don't play NFL quarterback. It's infuriating to your fans.

I fixed that for you.

Yup, and someone will grossly overpay for Foles. They'll sign him to some ridiculous contract like 5 years $80 million only to cut him after 2 years.
I can see the Redskins being a dumb enough franchise to do this.
That would be a below market rate that just about any NFL team looking for a starting QB would jump at. The Redskins would be looking at about a $37 million cap hit for 2019 if they cut Alex Smith and his 4yr/$94 million contract this offseason, so they probably won't be the team to do it.

Foles's Eagle numbers don't include his rookie year or second year, like Wentz's. Who's the better prospect?
MVP is on the defensive side (the kick was tipped by a defensive player, but we're talking about holding the other team to 15 points).

Not sure but Wentz is turning 27 next season so he is no longer that young as he entered the league at an older age.

Quarterbacks with a cannon for an arm like Jay Cutler, Jeff George and Carson Wentz get numerous chances to figure it out. Since neither Cutler or George will go into NFL HoF, having a cannon arm isn't everything.

Yes. they do. Because Foles spent his first three years with the Eagles before he was traded away. Nick Foles second year at Philly was outstanding, he finished with a 119 quarterback rating and 27 TDs to 2 INTs.

Wentz has the higher upside than Foles because he can make plays that Foles cannot. Now the question is if Wentz can win ball games that Foles cannot, especially after his injuries.
RGIII can also make plays that Foles cannot.
Even when the Eagles started 10-2 under Wentz last year, he wasn't hitting a lot of deep balls unless he scrambled first.
I think Foles can make plays that Wentz cannot.
Some of that is making the right reads or launching the ball at the right angle to float into the receivers hands just outside of the defender's reach.
Watch some of these passes

Foles's 2013 Season passer rating is the third highest single season rating in history.
The Eagles' current dilemma was caused in part by former coach Chip Kelly's personnel moves. Prior to the 2014 Season, Kelly released Foles's top target DeSean Jackson at the peak of career. Then Kelly traded Foles to the Rams for Sam Bradford before the 2015 Season. After the Eagles fired Kelly and decided Bradford was not a long term solution, they traded up to draft Wentz with the Number 2 overall pick in 2016. Apart from his injuries, Wentz has lived up to his promise and hype.
Meanwhile, after his trade to the Rams, Foles was on his way to becoming a journeyman quarterback until Wentz got injured late in the 2017 season. Foles had a disastrous 2015 for Jeff Fisher's Rams, was released, contemplated retirement, had some success as a backup for the Chiefs in 2016, and returned to the Eagles as a backup in 2017.
Saints will fall to Eagles tonight. Nick Foles does it again.
