Good luck to the Houston crew this weekend!
A few more comments...
th3bt: Good to see you back at it. Hope the achilles continues to get stronger.
Bruin: Gonna be time to update those PRs soon.
Bdubs: Hope the knee is coming around for you.
Pappy: Sounds like a good plan. If I played that much basketball I wouldn't be able to walk for a week.
Runn3rgirl: Nice taper week. I like the mix of quicker stuff in there. Do you have a specific routine for the stuff you do at this stage?
Viking: Smart to take the time if you needed it. Good diligence getting that 20 in - running on ice is never fun.
kaletrane: Solid base week. Keep an eye on the hip/knee - winter running can be hard on the joints at times. Strides are good - I might suggest doing them up a hill maybe every other time. Good for getting a little extra pop.
stat: Solid week in the big picture. You were smart to pull the plug on Sunday if you weren't feeling right.
darkwave: The sensible part of my brain looks at your week and says, "See, that's the smart way to do it. You could learn something here, GFMAH!" The other 99% of my brain is having a hard time getting its head around two eighty minute sessions of pool running.
Jeremy: Hope your daughter is feeling better, and hope you and your wife are recovering as well. Speaking from experience, I know it takes a lot out of you. Very solid week of running, though, with a lot of quality, like Sub 6 said.
RunninReed: Sometimes getting out the door is the hardest part. Noticed your post about the half-mile loop run from the week before. Kind of partial to those myself, at least now and then.
RunnerSam: Interesting about the rolled ankle. If I remember correctly, one of the times that I had this problem, it was preceded by ankle issues. And the other time, it was after I got hit by a car and broke three of the metatarsals in that foot. While the problems occurred well after the bones themselves had healed, the PT I saw speculated that (a) there might be still be some irritation or inflammation due to scar tissue/soft tissue damage, and (b) there might still be some instability due to muscle atrophy. So, coming off that very anecdotal experience, I might wonder whether your foot problems have something to do with the rolled ankle or perhaps some underlying instability? Though pressure from shoe issues/lacing could certainly be a contributing factor, too.
Sub 6: Actually, I've only run that race three times, once when I was a freshman in high school and then the last two years. But yeah, it's cool that it's been going that long. This year will actually be the 51st running, and the guy who started it still does the honors at the starting line.
