New Balance redesigned the Zante, and it is now leaner and faster than its predecessor. This could be shoe to use for all races from the road mile all the way up to the marathon, and good for interval training, tempo and long runs.
In the Zante V2 Breathe, which weighed abobut 7.9 oz, I did everything in those. They were light and very breathable, and could even handle racing on the track, but they discontinued it.
The shoe looks really good and more aerodynamic....I'm hoping they hit the nail on the head with this. My main gripe with the regular zantes ( not the breathe version) were that they were too heavy, even for training. They were listed at 8.2 oz, but the ride felt more like 9oz. Also, they just got bulkier and bulkier with each update.
One of the great things about the zante in general is the solid rubber out sole, so the shock absorption and grip were always superior. This model follows that same tradition.
