I got to watch the end of their season on TV yesterday. Has there ever been a franchise that made more stupid decisions? I seem to remember them in the NFC championship game last year with a stellar defense and good quarterback play.
They apparently released all their quarterbacks and signed a career .500 quarterback to a mega-contract with $84 million guaranteed. Not surprisingly, the team then goes basically .500.
So the Cleveland Browns is smmahatah?
1-15 last year, 0-16 year before, yeah Mayfield is their only bright spot.
Loser on the lake.
Hate to say it, Cleveland looks to have a better future. This year, they had three losses in overtime -- partly due to a crap kicker who missed field goals. They also only lost by 3 points at New Orleans, one of the best teams this season. If a couple of those overtime games go the other way, they're a playoff team.
Mayfield looks like the real deal, and they'll have him on a rookie contract for four more years. They have other good young players around him. They've got all their high round picks for 2019, plus a third round pick they got from a trade. In addition, they have $80 million in salary cap room to spread around, if they want. So I'd say their future is finally looking pretty good.
