You’re thinking of pre-race BJs

the night before state, in the hotel, all of the guys plus the alternate (8 total) pile into one double sized bed, and spoon. this usually lasts 20 minutes to an hour. there are also some synchronized dynamic hip movements. we stay fully clothed.
Legend has it that it builds team unity and also boosts T levels naturally pre-race.
Do you shave each others balls in the shower like swim teams?
During practice we would start all of our runs from school, then start walking as soon as we were out of sight.

We do our favorite Fortnite dance on the line and we jubilee in a circle before the race.
What is a "Fortnite dance"?
What does it mean to "jubilee in a circle"?
What language are you speaking?
Out with it!
Hah! I think I went to school with you, and I'm surprised any of the boys from that era would still even be on letsrun.
All of the varsity guys drink from this waterfall in the woods. We also make the freshman jump over this one stream (no one has ever made it across, myself included). We also threaten to shove a plastic flamingo up someone's butt every year at the track banquet (hasn't actually happened yet, don't worry)

We built tee-pees in the woods while we were supposed to be running. They were fairly elaborate in that several people could fit in them and were well built (sturdy, kept rain out, etc).
Went on for several years, and the location became a known party spot for high school kids. Eventually got caught by the coaches and everyone got nearly kicked off the team. Had to make running fun somehow, am I right?
we did this too. we also would run through the woods and push down dead trees. pull our pants down when the girls would come by. make freshmen crawl through sewer tunnels. throw dead roadkill at each other. try and catch falling leaves. you name it, we did it. but we also were the 5th best team in the state of ohio, at least for d2.
Too many good ones. When I was a freshman, 95% of the team would ditch every easy run and hang out in a little nature reserve about a mile from our school. In this nature reserve, there is a pond that is basically a storm water collection. We had our top kid get suspended for a section race we could have won, so later that we picked him up and threw him in the pond on the run. There is also a rope that hangs down a 30-40ft "cliff" that we always climbed up the day before a race, that part was definitely a tradition. There is also a tunnel at the end of the reserve that extends about 400m underneath a highway and it is pitch black, with a ledge about a foot wide to walk on (unless you just wanted to walk through the water). If you made varsity as a freshman, it was tradition to go through the tunnel the whole way to the other side and back with no light, by yourself.
Other than that, we have a team pasta night at one guys house (started my freshman year). He is a senior this year so not sure if the tradition will get picked up or not. We also have a leaf game like another poster said. Catch it before it hits the ground, you get a point, catch on in a race and hold on to it to show us after the race is 2pts, catch one at districts 5 pts, states is 25... We keep very detailed records of this dating the whole way back to 2006. I currently hold the single season record with 57 leaves.... And no, I've never caught one in a race lol I don't play during races ;)
