New Balances two icons are Jenny and Emma Coburn . They would never agree to have both of them in the same event.

Not now, perhaps a few years ago when she was in 1500 PR shape and the US women weren't running in the single digets. The U.S. has 2 women capable of running 9 flat which is way faster than Jenny ever ran and in a year or two, I expect Colleen Quigley to be in the 9 flat range as well. Btw, all of 3 of these women are several years younger than Jenny, whereas Jenny is in the twlight of her career, the aforementioned ladies are just entering their peak.
This!! Excellent point Track Coach.
Remember at the end of Jeremy Wariner’s career, the boards were abuzz with talk that he should be able to run in the mid to low 1:40’s?? He wasn’t even close. The Steeple Chase isn’t a similar kind of race to the 1500 and the strength required to run it is different than the strength and speed needed for the 1500. In two years of training, Simpson would probably still not be any better than she was when she set the American Record, what was it, 10 years ago?

The muppets on here were saying she should be sticking with the steeplechase when she first moved to 1500.
